About Us

Who are we?

Gippsland Christian Fellowship (GCF) had its genesis in the renewal movement of the 1970s. Our congregation is drawn from South Gippsland and the Latrobe Valley, and we meet at the Baromi Centre in Couper Street, Mirboo North.
GCF is part of a national fellowship of 25 churches, and has international connections with New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Pakistan and the United States.

Life at GCF
The church meets for a weekly service on Sunday afternoons, and twice a month in homes for informal Bible study and discussion. Our children study the Sonseekers program during Sunday School while our teenagers follow a syllabus called Key of Knowledge.

GCF fosters family relationships.

We do not have a closed membership. All are welcome.

Our public life is expressed on Sunday afternoon, where we meet for a one-hour worship service, followed by all-age teaching. Our day to day life is one of sincere friendship, practical care and spiritual encouragement.

What is our aim?
GCF aims to promote the following: the new life offered by Jesus Christ, relationship with God and others, sound family relationships, active care one for another, and responsible participation in the community.
What is our structure?
Our overall structure is one in which local churches in various towns and cities maintain active connection by supporting one another and sharing ministry. We focus on basic Biblical teachings and GCF is part of a global movement seeking the restoration of the vitality of the early-day church while at the same time embracing the hope of its mature future expression.

Our public worship is a balance of modern and traditional styles, suitable for all ages.

Our leaders are not 'ordained' by an institution, but are appointed on the basis of specific needs or skills - whether for youth work, pastoral care, administration, teaching, worship, etc. Most leaders have secular employment, although a number of couples are in 'full-time' care of the church.
