Third Year Scholarship Funding Recipient

“Dear the East Gippsland Community Foundation and Grantors

My name is Matisse Daniel and I have recently received an amazing scholarship from the foundation, one that will enable my first year of placement in eastern Victoria one to remember. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine with Monash University as a 3rd year student, placed in Traralgon for the year (2024) for placement.

I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity for me to be able to engage in my studies to a new level as I experience new things in the hospital everyday as well as also being able to spend more time studying. Not only does this scholarship provide the financial support to myself and my family, it enables me to continue participating in things that I love doing, for example, hockey. I recently was fortunate enough to travel to America in early March to compete in an international tournament representing Australia as a part of the U21 women’s indoor hockey team. 

This is my third year as a recipient of the scholarship that has allowed me to transform the way I participate in my studies as well as life outside of university, making life-long connections with people who will become my co-workers as I progress through my course. I would like to express my continuous gratitude towards the foundation and the grantors who support young students like me who are living away from home and taking on a new part of life independently. 

Thank you for recognising and acknowledging me as a candidate as someone who fulfils the expectations and values of the foundation and carries these with them throughout life, reflecting a positive image onto the foundation.
